The pre-season practice races are in the books, and we’ll be kicking off the inaugural FormulaSL championship next Saturday, June 15th, at Mooz. Lots of excellent drivers on hand, and a good variety of car: every builder that produced a car is represented. We’ve had 4 shake-down events, 2 at Snowpeach and 2 at Mooz, and all of them have to be considered successes as far as event organization and car performance are concerned. Second Life performance, on the other hand, has been spotty…to say nothing of the occasional network glitch! The two races at Mooz saw time dilation of .8 and .6 during the main event, and at the second Snowpeach outing my ping times went ballistic, over a full second. Still, I’ve managed to qualify in the top 3 in all the tests, and finished on the podium in all but that ping-plagued day at ‘Peach. Teammate Silk Bamboo has been kicking some butt, too: strong finishes, and she got pole position at the first Mooz test. With backup drivers Thorn Blackflag and Lacie Voss, Team OMG should have a strong season.
