Yesterday I had the honor of hosting the MotoSL Season 2 awards ceremony and party at the galleries on Hotgates! This post is to express my warmest, most heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, and made it such a great post-season reunion.

Gianluca Mahoney—top-ranked independent rider for the season, by the way—graciously lent his club-entrepreneur’s skills (and huge stash of lights and dance floors) to enhance the setting. DJ Miggy rolled the tunes, for maybe the first time in daylight. Korbin King provided a great highlights reel, 27 minutes of thrills and spills on the big screen. I’ll post a permanent link to that as soon as we decide from where to stream it. For now it’s viewable here, Quicktime required. And MotoSL Director Les White, to whom we owe it all, provided posters of all the top racers, displayed around the deck and also distributed in high-res collection as part of the “goody bag”.

Vince Nacon made up some over-the-top trophies for riders first through third and for the number one team, a happy burden to hoist. From left to right above that’s Silk Bamboo, 2nd in Rider’s Championship; Bike Racer, 3rd; and me with the 1st place trophy teetering precariously overhead. Thorn Blackflag did the honors for his first-place Red Wings team:  find that pic and others on the MotoSL site. And there were wall plaques as well, for all finishers down to 10th place for riders and top 3 for the team championship. For details on who won what, you can look at the final point standings on the MotoSL web.

I’m so happy to have had the good fortune to become involved in this series. And of course delighted to have won the rider’s championship! To all my wonderful friends and fellow racers, thanks again.

I am such a lousy blogger. I just can’t seem to focus on getting something posted when it’s fresh But to get a couple things up to date:

I’ve won a couple more races in the MotoSL championship series, and scored enough points to secure the number one plate for next year with 2 races remaining. Woohoo! That was two weekends ago at Mooz, on a horrific day for lag and my worst race of the season. It was a hell of a way to clinch a championship, by qualifying 9th and finishing 6th overall. That was only the second time I’ve been off the podium all season!

I kinda made up for it yesterday, getting a win at Snowpeach that I really didn’t expect. The ‘Peach is not my favorite track: in the two prior meets there, I only managed to score a third and a sixth. It’s a tricky circuit, easy to crash and lose time. Somehow I didn’t, for once, and it was a very satisfying win on many levels. And my OMG Magazine Racing teammate Mistina got a great result too, coming back after a very long dry spell. So maybe we can put on a brave face for the team championship as well, and at least keep the Red Wings on their toes! One race to go!
