After much procrastinating and head-scratching, I finally got the Asian-American Art gallery set up in its new location on Hotgates. It turned out better than I expected, and much better than the old version on the mainland, so I’m starting to feel a bit less regret about moving everything to this new island.
“AsianAmericanArt: California Confluences and Crosscurrents“ is the most comprehensive study and interpretation ever undertaken of the history of visual art production by individuals of Asian ancestry (Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean and South Asian) in the United States from the mid-19th century to 1965. The exhibit in this gallery consists of a slide show, 175 images (low-res, of course) taken from a presentation the Stanford Humanities Lab did for an open house last year. If you want to sit and soak up some great art while sipping absinthe by the sea, drop by for a visit.
